A Pasalubong Center that will house the different products of Manaoag and its neighboring towns in the 4th District is targeted for opening before this year’s Holy Week observance in mid-April when Catholic devotees flock to the Basilica of Manaoag.

Located on the left side of the stairway of the Basilica within Manaoag’s Rizal Park, the three-story building is bankrolled by public funds and a P2-million personal contribution of 4th District Rep. Christopher de Venecia, who said he contributed personal funds to make the project more aesthetic.

The building, designed by Architects Jason Bunsalido and Cholo Ramirez of Barchan Architecture and Design Company in Manila, blends with the color and style of the centuries old Manaoag church.

Construction, which started in July 2024, is under the supervision of the 2nd Pangasinan Engineering District with City Engineer Edita Manuel as lead.

An initial P4-million fund was released for the project in 2024 and another P10 million was allotted this year.

The project was approved by the Municipal Government of Manaoag led by Mayor Jeremy Agerico Rosario and the Manaoag Basilica parish to further boost tourism in Manaoag, dubbed as religious capital of Pangasinan.

The Pasalubong Center will also benefit local entrepreneurs of San Jacinto, Mangaldan, San Fabian and Dagupan City. (Leonardo Micua)
