Pyrotechnic vendors in Dagupan warned vs illegal goods
THE Dagupan local government held a meeting with vendors to remind them on the guidelines for selling pyrotechnics, particularly the illegal sale of banned devices under ‘Oplan Iwas Paputok’.

Mangaldan BFP goes after pyrotechnic vendors sans permits
THE Bureau of Fire Protection in Mangaldan has started monitoring all vendors selling pyrotechnics to ensure that only those with permits will be allowed to operate.

LTO inspects bus terminals in San Carlos
THE Land Transportation Office in San Carlos City is set to inspect all bus terminals within its jurisdiction to ensure that units are in proper condition to transport the expected thousands of commuters during the holiday.

Pangasinan farmers face bleak Christmas
FARMERS in Pangasinan will have little for the Christmas feast following losses from the series of typhoons in the previous months but expressed hope of recovering through the second play cropping that will be harvested starting February next year.
In Mangaldan alone, some P10 million worth of palay were destroyed, while the entire province registered crop damage worth P982 million. (Mathew Pacheco)

SSS continues campaign vs. delinquent employers
THE Social Security System (SSS) office in Urdaneta revealed that several establishments in eastern Pangasinan have not been remitting the mandated monthly contributions for their employees, with over P2.8 million in delinquency so far this year.
SSS City Branch Head Christopher Servas said at least 472 workers could not obtain loans or enjoy their retirement benefits due to the violations by their employers. The agency is intensifying its Run Against Contribution Evaders (RACE) campaign focusing on household employers as well as private establishments and and Overseas Filipino Workers. (Jam Victorio)

3,000 multiple registrants found by Comelc in Pangasinan
THE Commission on Elections (COMELEC) in Pangasinan said it has sent letters to some 3,000 voters who were verified to have multiple registrations. Half of this number were found by the Comelec in Dagupan City.

Shoppers flock to Dagupan baratillo
SHOPPERS continue to flock the Baratilyo ng Dagupan along Galvan Street to buy goods such as toys at low prices, similar to those sold in Manila’s Divisoria Market.

AMID the continuous spike in the prices of goods and food commodities, housewives in Pangasinan have become more budget-conscious and planning their spending more cautiously.

BFA assures stable bangus supply this Christmas
THE Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) Region 1 has brushed aside speculations that that there will be a shortage in the supply of milkfish or bangus in the markets of Pangasinan and Dagupan this Christmas season.
This was supported by the Samahang Magbabangus sa Pangasinan (SaMaPa), a group of bangus producers, who committed to continue to supply the needs of wholesalers in the Magsaysay Fish Market in Dagupan. (Rona Racca)

More buyers of capiz lanterns with lights this year
SALES of Cadiz lanterns along Caranglaan in Dagupan City has been better compared to previous years, according to one vendor.
She said this is a good indicator that the economy somewhat improved with more people able to afford or willing to spend on the decorative items. (Jam Victorio)
