Manaoag farmers receive decomposting machines

SIXTEEN more decomposting machines from the Department of Agriculture were recently turned over to farmer groups in Manaoag, increasing the local agriculture sector’s capacity to produce its own organic fertilizer.

Manaoag Mayor Jeremy Agerico Rosario said nearly all strategic areas in the municipality have received decomposting machines used for processing organic waste, turning it into fertilizer that will enhance the soil quality for crops.

The recipients were accredited clustered farmer groups, ensuring the benefits reached the most relevant agricultural stakeholders.

Representatives from the groups will undergo training to maximize the efficiency and effectiveness of the machines.

In addition to the income generated from its status as a Pilgrimage Area in Region 1, the Manaoag local government and its people are hopeful that the support for agriculture will further improve the livelihood of the communities. (Ahikam Pasion)
