Bugallon solar power plant gets fast-track ticket
BUGALLON Green Energy Corp. (BGEC) received a Certificate of Energy Project of National Significance (CEPNS) on November 13 for its 25 MW Bugallon Solar Power Project (BSPP), paving the way for faster permitting and approval procedures.
The CEPNS issued by the Department of Energy (DOE) to projects recognized its importance to both local energy security and broader economic growth in the Philippines. It mandates local governments and national agencies to fast-track the processing and approval of documents related to the project.
“This is a big step toward fulfilling our commitment to provide renewable energy under the Green Energy Auction 2 program,” said BGEC vice president for commercial operations Maria Victoria Oliva.
BGEC also recently secured a connection and distribution wheeling service agreement with the Central Pangasinan Electric Cooperative (CENPELCO), to enable the seamless integration of the solar facility into the national grid.
The power firm also strengthened its collaborative efforts with CENPELCO by signing additional agreements that will facilitate the transmission of power from the solar farm to the local grid.
CENPELCO president Marlon Magalong said the project aligns perfectly with the cooperative’s mission to deliver efficient and dependable energy to residents throughout Pangasinan.
The BSPP, to be constructed in Barangay Salomague Sur, will generate about 39,000 MWh of clean energy each year, which can power around 17,000 homes and help reduce carbon emissions by about 28,000 metric tons annually.
BGEC is part of Rizal Green Energy Corporation, a joint venture of Japan’s Taisei Corporation and PetroGreen Energy Corporation, a subsidiary of the Yuchengco Group. (Ahikam Pasion)
