A MAN identified as Norman Mercado Talleser, who falsely represented himself as a provincial government employee and scammed job seekers into shelling out money, has been arrested along with one accomplice.

The Office of the Vice Governor and the Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Pangasinan have issued a warning about the fraudulent hiring scheme and called on victims to immediately report to the nearest police station or the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) in Dagupan City.

“Your prompt reporting is crucial to prevent further incidents and ensure justice is served,” the provincial council said in its advisory posted on its official Facebook page.

The accused, who claimed to be a regional director of a non-existent Agritourism Department within the provincial government and promised employment, was caught in a coordinated entrapment operation by the CIDG.

The scheme involved asking job seekers to pay a P6,200 medical fee and an additional P200 for notarizing their Statement of Assets, Liabilities, and Net Worth.

The public has also been urged to immediately report any similar suspicious activities to local authorities and refer to the Human Resource Management and Development Office (HRMDO) Facebook page or the Civil Service Commission (CSC) website at CSC Career for legitimate employment opportunities.
