Dagupan, pilot area for PBBM’s housing program
A four-storey housing project under the Bagong Pilipinas Housing Program of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. for city government employees, teachers and policemen who still do not own a house, will soon rise in Sitio Sta. Maria in Barangay Bonuan Boquig in Dagupan City.
This was bared by Mayor Belen Fernandez following the recent visit of officials from the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) and the Home Development Mutual Fund (Pag-IBIG), who announced that the city will be one of the beneficiaries of the national housing program.
The building, she said, is good for an initial 92 housing units with two bedrooms each, to be awarded to qualified beneficiaries under easy monthly installment terms with rates similar to current house or apartment rental fees.
The city already has an available lot for the building, which Fernandez said she reserved during her previous term as city mayor. It is located just beside a four-storey multi-purpose building in Bonuan Boquig funded by former Senator and now Education Secretary Angara.
The project will commence as soon as the Sangguniang Panlungsod passes a resolution binding the city government to the project in a tie up with the DHS and Pag-IBIG. (Leonardo Micua)
