Agno resident receive cash aid thru Risk Resiliency Program
THE 618 residents received P8,700 cash each through the Cash-for-Work Program of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) last July 12 in Barangay Cayungnan through the Risk Resiliency Program (RRP) in Agno town.
DSWD Region I Director Mafia Gopalan led the payout distribution to the recipients of her agency’s RRP and was witnessed by Agno Mayor Gualberto Sison and with Vice Mayor Jonathan Doromal.
“We stand in solidarity with the continued development of the beneficiaries through the help of DSWD in ensuring their livelihood and income”, Mayor Sison said.
The beneficiaries worked on a communal gardening for BINHI (Breaking Insufficiency through Nutritious Harvest for Impoverished) and constructed a Small Farm Reservoir (SFR) for Project LAWA (Local Adaptation to Water Access).
BINHI addresses the shortage of water and food in communities caused by El Niño and prepares for La Niña by building a Small Farm Reservoir where residents can plant fruits and vegetables near the area.
The DSWD’s RRP Program gives vulnerable communities with the means to combat the consequences of climate change while offering them a temporary source of income. (Kim Gealogo)
