Construction of Bolinao-Santiago bridge connection starts

MORE tourists are expected to flock to Bolinao and western Pangasinan once the construction of a 600-meter lineal meter bridge that will connect Bolinao town proper and Santiago Island in the north-western part of the Lingayen Gulf is completed.

Department of Public Works and Highways Regional Director Ronnel Tan said the bridge is estimated to cost of P1.95 billion, and P130 million was already released this year for the construction of the long bridge approach on the Bolinao side.

Director Tan told the initial edition of the Kapihan sa Bagong Pilipinas in San Fernando City, LU, on May 28, that the Bolinao-Santiago Island Bridge is set to be completed in 2028 or before President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. leaves office.

Meanwhile, Santiago Island comprises of six barangays: Binabalian, Goyoden, Lucero, Pilar, Salud and Victory. Today, it has ferry links to mainland Bolinao and vice versa. (Leonardo Micua)
