THE Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA) will soon receive “the supply, handling, transport and delivery” of 4,180 bags of Agricultural Grade Salt Fertilizers under the Coconut Fertilization Project CY 2024 Fund of the agency” from the provincial government after the Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) passed the resolution authorizing Gov. Ramon Guico III to enter into an agreement with PCA, led by its Administrator and Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Dexter Buted.

The Provincial Government, thru the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist, owns and manages a 130-hectare salt farm in Bolinao with an available supply of approximately 3,000 metric tons of salt.

The PCA is currently implementing the Coconut Fertilization Project CY 2024 which seeks to enhance the coconut productivity involving the rehabilitation of low-bearing palms through the application of Agricultural Grade Salt Fertilizers.

“We’re expecting this to further expand in the coming months, or even in the next three years, especially once the salt production of our Pangasinan Salt Center has been stabilized,” Vice Gov. Mark Lambino, SP presiding officer, told local newsmen.

Lambino cited calls in the past weeks that Pangasinan will already shift, particularly in the salt industry, from production to eventual sales and marketing of salt to promote and offset the lack of salt production nationwide.

He pointed out that Pangasinan is committed to supply 4,180 bags of Agricultural Grade Salt Fertilizers until the end of 2024.  (Eva Visperas)
