Decorp’s May 2024 billing shoots up

CUSTOMERS of Dagupan Electric Corporation (Decorp) will see an increase in their May billing.

Atty. Randy Castilan, DECORP Legal Counsel, said a 52-centavos increase for the generation charge will be reflected in this month’s billing, or a P6.0773 per kilowatt hour (kwh).

Castilan said the increase in charges is due to higher demands and lower supply, as impacted by the prices of the Wholesale Electricity Spot Market (WESM), and recent alerts on the grid.

In sum, May’s billing will show P10.5954 per kwh, compared to last month’s P9.9981 per kwh. It means an average 100kwh consumption per month will be billed P1,059.54.

Consumers are urged to continuously save electricity by regularly cleaning appliances and to disconnect appliances not in use regularly.

Castilan said prices are expected to drop during the rainy season when the demand is lower. (Ahikam Pasion)
