Another solar power project proposed in Infanta

PANGASINAN keeps on attracting more investors for renewable energy project as another company manifested its interest to put up solar power plant in the province.

Vice Gov. Mark Lambino, presiding officer of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan, said Bill CleanTech Power Corporation which operates One Manaoag Power that generates 20 megawatts (MW) offloaded for Decorp in Sta. Barbara town, presented its plan to construct a solar farm in Infanta town.

The proposed project in Infanta, named Infanta 1 and Infanta 2, will generate a total of 120-MW power. Its target of operation is on the third or fourth quarter of 2025.

He added that the company also has another site in Labrador town.

Citing several studies conducted by both local and international groups show that irradiation in Pangasinan is ideal for energy renewal projects.

Recently, another company presented its proposal for wind farm project in eastern and western parts of Pangasinan and also in the First and Second districts.

He said while the country needs an additional source of electricity, including Pangasinan, the provincial government must maintain “a delicate balance“ when approving identified sites for solar farms.

He said approved for solar farms are located in unirrigated agricultural lands and considered inalienable land or still unclassified that needs reclassification from the Department of Agrarian Reform or needing forest land use agreement from the DENR. (Eva Visperas)
