Egg’s price drops to P4 in Dagupan City

By April 21, 2024Business

AS reported in the earlier issues of the PUNCH, eggs’ prices were forecasted to drop drastically due to the heat.

With an oversupply, eggs in Dagupan City markets were sold for P4 each last week.

Nathaniel Jovero, a resident of Rivera Street, and a regular marketgoer, said extra small-sized eggs sold for P4, small eggs for P5, medium-sized eggs for P6, large eggs for P7, while extra-large eggs were sold for P9.

The intense heat killing chickens ironically, proved beneficial for egg-laying hens as the heat helps in producing eggs at a higher rate.

Meanwhile, meat and fish prices remained stable, as a kilogram of chicken sold for P170, while pork sold for P350 per kilogram.

Tilapia was being sold for P160 per kilogram, bangus for P200 per kilo, while galunggong was sold for P240 per kilo.

Eggs’ prices may continue to drop if oversupply continues in the weeks ahead. (Ahikam Pasion)
