Decorp’s January billing applies Lifeline Rate Discount
GOOD news for customers of the Dagupan Electric Corporation (Decorp) who are below the poverty line!
Decorp started implementing the Lifeline Rate Discount (LRD) beginning January 2024 billing.
Atty. Randy Castilan, Decorp spokesperson, said beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) and non-4Ps beneficiaries who belong to marginalized groups are eligible to benefit from the LRD, provided they are registered with Decorp.
Castilan said they only need to prove they are below the poverty line.
To register, 4Ps beneficiaries must submit their duly accomplished LRD Application Form which can be requested from any DECORP office, their latest electric bill, and a photocopy of any government-issued ID preferably 4Ps ID.
For non-4Ps beneficiaries, must submit a certification from the Social Welfare and Development Office (SWDO) that are verified to be living below the poverty line.
Castilan said the LRD will be applied to consumption not beyond 50 kwh per month.
He said individuals enrolled in the LRD who consume 15kwh below in one billing month will enjoy 100-percent discount, and will only be charged P5 for the metering charge; consumption of 21 to 30 kwh in one billing month will enjoy up to 50-percent discount; 31 to 40 kwh with 10-percent discount, and 41 to 50 kwh may enjoy five-percent discount.
According to the Republic Act 11552 or the LRD Act, the Lifeline Rate is a subsidized rate given to qualified marginalized end-users in a household with a monthly consumption of 50 kilowatt hour (kwh) and below. (Ahikam Pasion)
