Carinderia owners suffer from spike in LPG price
THE P3.40 price increase of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) at the beginning of the year disappointed local dealers.
The increase translates to additional P37.4 on top of its price in December 2023 for 11-kilogram LPG tank.
Mang Felix, a carinderia owner from Barangay Malabago and who was also interviewed by The PUNCH in 2022, expressed dismay and concern about further increases in weeks ahead.
He said if LPG price continues in the following months, he may have to increase the price of his food itemsĀ currently selling meat at P60 and vegetables at P20 per serving. Rice sells at P15 per serving.
According to the Department of Energy (DOE), the price increase is attributed to the increased shipping costs due to the situation in the Red Sea. (Ahikam Pasion)
