THE Alliance of United Transport Organization Provincewide (AUTOPRO)–Pangasinan did not join the nationwide call of Manila-based transport groups MANIBELA and PISTON to protest the revocation of franchises of drivers and operators unable to consolidate.

Both MANIBELA and PISTON earlier launched a nationwide protest in order to persuade President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to reinstate the revoked franchises of drivers and operators who failed to consolidate on the December 31, 2023 deadline.

Bernard Tuliao, Autopro -Pangasinan president, said MANIBELA’s Mar Valbuena called him to convince him to join the protest action by launching its own protest in Pangasinan, but Autopro declined.

Tuliao said almost 100-percent of all transport groups in the province already consolidated hence it found no need to conduct a protest action here.

Pangasinan currently has about 200 modernized units already plying the roads, with 11 more in Bautista town being added.

Tuliao said that more modernized units will roll out soon in the province, as cooperatives have been enrolled to the Landbank loan system.

AUTOPRO-Pangasinan boasts of more than 1,500 strong members plying routes in Pangasinan. (Ahikam Pasion)
