Rotten bangus from Bugallon seized in Dagupan
ONE boat load of decaying bangus worth P300,000 were seized by officials of the City Agriculture Office when it landed in front of the National Bureau of Investigation office early morning last Friday, December 29.
The unloading of the intercepted load of decaying fish happened just another boat landed at the back of the Magsaysay Fish Market at the same time but whose load was already reportedly sold to members of the consignacion at a bargain price of P60 per kilo and up.
The caretaker of the fish pen who accompanied the shipment was arrested and admitted that both loads came from a fish pen in Bugallon town allegedly owned by an unnamed official of the Bureau of Customs.
The motorboats that loaded the rotten fish were also seized by the police.
Mayor Belen Fernandez rushed to the Magsaysay Market upon being informed of the landing of decaying fish. She called on the City Agriculture Office and police to file charges against the owner of the rotting fish, including his caretaker. (Butch Uka)
