ASF ‘Red Zones’ in Pangasinan rise to 7

SIX towns and one city in Pangasinan are still listed as ‘Red Zones’ of the African Swine Fever (ASF) with Santa Barbara town being the latest entry in the list.

The mainstays in the ASF red zone in the province are the towns of Anda, Bolinao, Mangatarem, Sual, Urbiztondo, and the City of Alaminos.

According to the Amended National ASF Zoning and Movement Plan (DA Administrative Circular No. 2, Series of 2022), areas marked ‘Red’ under the Infected Zone, have had confirmed recorded ASF cases in the past 90 days.

Meanwhile, the number of towns and cities in the province under the ‘Pink Zone’ had risen to 19, compared to last month’s 16, namely, Agno, Aguilar, Asingan, Bani, Basista, Bayambang, Bugallon, Calasiao, Labrador, Lingayen, Mabini, Malasiqui, Mangaldan, Mapandan, Rosales, Tayug, Laoac, Dagupan City, San Carlos City, and Urdaneta City.

Buffer or Pink Zones include cities or municipalities adjacent to infected Zones which have not reported new ASF cases.

Towns not listed are under the Yellow or Surveillance Zones are considered high-risk areas because of dense population of swine, and volume of trade of pigs, pork, and pork products. (Ahikam Pasion)
