AMID rising cases of African Swine Fever (ASF) in neighboring areas, Governor Ramon Guico III issued Executive Order No. 0102-2023, on October 1, 2023 extending the temporary total ban on the entry of live swine/pigs, pork, and pork by-products from all cities and municipalities in the so called ‘ASF red zone’ into Pangasinan.

This extension is in response to reported new cases of ASF in Sual and Mangatarem municipalities. The ban aims to contain the spread of ASF in the province.

The new extension continues to call on all towns and cities to comply with all required documentation at Animal quarantine checkpoints (AQCs), as outlined in Executive Order 0058, series of 2023. Furthermore, AQCs and other facilities are directed to strictly monitor entry and exit points for hogs and pork products.

Additionally, E.O. No. 0101-2023, also issued on the same day, extends the temporary total ban on the entry of various poultry products from specific provinces due to avian and other zoonotic influenza outbreaks in nearby areas to protect the local poultry industry and public health from potential risks.

Like the previous order, it reiterates the required documentation at Animal Quarantine Checkpoints and calls for strict monitoring of entry and exit points for affected poultry products.

Both orders stipulate that shipments bound for Ilocos Sur, Ilocos Norte, La Union, Abra, and Benguet must take the TPLEX Urdaneta Exit. (Eva Visperas)
