Check coop registration before joining – CDA1
AS part of the Cooperative Month celebrations, the Cooperative Development Authority (CDA) in Region 1 has issued a reminder to the public: “Check the registration of cooperatives before joining to avoid falling victim to unscrupulous individuals.”
Richard Gasican, cooperative development specialist, advises the public to join only a cooperative registered with CDA because it provides members with a legal identity or juridical personality that allows them to conduct business transactions legally.
Gasican said legitimate cooperatives must possess a business logo or signage, a cooperative registration number that can be validated at a nearby CDA office.
He reminded unregistered associations to register with CDA to establish their legal personality and protect their members. Individuals interested in registering their cooperative members can do so at the new CDA-Region 1 Extension Office located at Barracks Highway, Barangay Bonuan-Boquig, Dagupan City.
