Commuters call for more public transport

COMMUTERS in Pangasinan, particularly those traveling from Lingayen, Urdaneta, Labrador, Sual, Binmaley, and San Carlos City to Dagupan City, are calling on the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) to increase the number of franchises for public transportation vehicles in those routes.

In an informal survey conducted by IFM Dagupan Radio, commuters, particularly students, complained of shortage of jeepneys and buses public transportation, especially during rush hours. The shortage often leads to long waiting times, causing commuters to arrive late for their classes or work.

Frozen imported meat gaining more patrons in Dagupan

IN response to the ongoing economic crisis, consumers in Dagupan are increasingly opting for cheaper frozen imported meat over fresh meat from the Double A slaughterhouse in Mangaldan. At the Malimgas Public Market in Dagupan, one kilogram of imported frozen meat is priced between P240 to P250, compared to fresh meat’s P310 to P340 per kilogram.

Consumers view this as a significant cost-saving measure during challenging economic times. In previous months, consumers preferred the taste of fresh meat, despite the higher price.

Jeepney drivers unaffected by fuel price rollback

THE recent rollback in fuel prices by oil companies has had no significant impact on public transportation owners in Pangasinan. The recent rollback amounted to only P0.40 to P0.50 per liter for diesel, P0.50 to P0.70 per liter for kerosene, and P0.10 to P0.20 per liter for gasoline.

Operators continue with their petition to seek fare increases for P2 toP5 per kilometer.
