SILG Abalos lauds solar-powered street lights project
SECRETARY Benjamin Abalos Jr. of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) led the inauguration of 115 LED solar-powered street lights along the Angalacan River Eco-Tourism Park Road in Mangaldan town last Sunday.
This project, championed by Mayor Bonafe De Vera-Parayno and the Mangaldan local government, was funded through a P5 million grant provided by the DILGĀ as an incentive to Mangaldan as recipient of the Seal of Local Governance in 2022.
The newly illuminated Angalacan Eco-Tourism Park Road extends from Barangay Tebag to Barangay Pogo, passing through Salaan and Palua.
The Angalacan River posed safety concerns for travelers and tourists road because it lacked street lighting. To address this issue, modern solar-powered LED street lights were installed ensuring consistent and uninterrupted nighttime illumination.
Mayor Parayno underscored the importance of the project because it ensures the safety of drivers, riders, motorists, tourists, and residents.
During the ceremony, Secretary Abalos congratulated Mayor Parayno, Vice Mayor Mark Stephen Mejia, the municipal council for utilizing the P5 million cash incentive aimed at enhancing the town’s tourism industry.
“The introduction of solar-powered lighting along the Angalacan River Eco-Tourism Park Road marks a significant milestone in positioning it as a premier tourist destination,” Mayor Parayno remarked.
Following a tour of the town’s public market, Secretary Abalos commended Mangaldan not only for its reputation as the producer of the finest “tapa” but also for being known as the “home of the best smiles.” (Leonardo Micua)
