DECORP to implement refund in August billing

By August 20, 2023Business

GOOD news to customers of the Dagupan Electric Corporation (DECORP)!

Consumers will see lower billing this August when Decorp implements the refund and lower generation rate charge.

Atty. Randy Castilan, DECORP legal counsel, told in an interview that the refund is based on the Energy Regulator Commission (ERC) Resolution No. 14 series of 2022 issued December last year, directing electric distributors to refund actual generation purchase if it exceeds 10 percent.

The resolution took effect on January 2023.

Castilan said these are over-recoveries accumulated from the billing months of January up to July this year.

Over and under-recoveries happen due to different billing and reading cycle, and rates.

Yung pagbasa ng metro ng mga power generators hindi kami pareho kaya nagkakaroon ng pagbabago sa presyo by the time na nakapagbasa na kami ng metro”, said Castilan.

This results in a surplus or deficit depending on the month’s varying generation charge.

The total accumulated refund to be implemented on August 2023 will be at P2.66 for residential customer class, 2.93 for commercial, P2.65 for general power, P2.81 for bulk power, and P2.46 for streetlights.

The deduction will be on a per kilowatt hour (kwh) basis.

This means that a residential class customer consuming 100 kwh will see a P250 reduction this billing cycle.

With the refund for residential customer class will be P7.64/ kwh.

A residential class customer consuming 100 kwh will only have to pay PHP 764., compared P1,059.09 last month. (Ahikam Pasion)
