No shortage in supply of onion till December
ONION lovers have a reason to celebrate because the supply of onion in the province has increased meaning the dishes they prepare or order in eateries with onions in them will not cost them more like it did before when there was a shortage of onions.
This was gleaned from the high volume of onions recently released from storage facilities that resulted in cheaper prices of onions in markets.
Onion prices have dropped down by P15 to P20 pesos per kilogram.
Red onions are now being sold for P140 per kilogram, while white onions are sold at P150 per kilogram.
Meanwhile, prices of imported garlic are still pegged at P120 to P150 per kilogram, almost half the price of native garlic, whose current supply is low.
The Pangasinan Provincial Agriculture Office assured the public that onion supply will last for another six months in time for the next harvest season, normally in the first quarter of the year. (Ahikam Pasion)
