Cheaper eggs due to oversupply

PUBLIC markets in Pangasinan are currently experiencing an oversupply of eggs, two months after the PUNCH reported a shortage in egg supplies due to erratic weather conditions.

This resulted in egg prices going down by one peso.

In Mangaldan town, small eggs were sold at P5 each, while large sized-eggs cost P 9.

Vendors said the improved weather enabled raisers to deliver early and continuously indicating amply supply in the farms.

According to Samahang Industriya ng Agrikultura (SINAG), the same situation is being experienced in Northern and Southern Luzon where major raisers operate.

Mang Larry, who runs an eatery, said cheaper eggs is a boon to his ‘silog’ business.
