PREPARATIONS PAID OFF

THE security preparations at the Bonuan Tondaligan Beach Park paid off on seeing thousands of residents and local tourists safely enjoying the area after Maundy Thursday and Good Friday.

Beach Park Administrator Alberto Gregorio said more personnel were deployed to maintain security and rescue operations at the beach.

The personnel consisted mainly of PNP personnel, Maritime, Coastguard, and the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, and other volunteers.

Eight former job order employees who lost their jobs beginning April 1 also decided to volunteer, “Si Mayor Belen na mismo magpapasahod sa kanila,” said Gregorio.

On April 2 alone, Gregorio said 5,000 beachgoers were recorded and eventually doubled in the following days.

Meanwhile, Gregorio had warned cottage owners not to charge visitors higher than P800 for cottages during the holidays and weekends and P1,500 for overnight stays.

The City Mayor’s Office, City Treasury Office, One Stop Shop, and City Engineering Office strictly monitored transactions for the 152 cottages at the Bonuan Tondaligan Beach. (Ahikam Pasion)
