International cruise ship visits Hundred Islands
FOR the first time, a luxury cruise ship with more than 500 foreign guests and Filipino crew visited the Hundred Islands National Park in Alaminos City on April 2.
MV Star Breeze from Singapore chose Hundred Islands for its last destination in the Philippines before sailing to Hong Kong.
The foreign guests were welcomed by some city officials as well as Miss Hundred Islands 2023 Monica Pearl Vale and 4th runner-up Francine Atasha Mesa.
The guests were awed by the beauty of the islands and the warm welcome accorded them under the leadership of Mayor Arth Bryan Celeste and the Department of Tourism Region 1 as young dancers from the city showcased cultural presentations through their Hundred Islands Festival-themed performance.
Tour guides and boatmen ferried the guests in selected beautiful islands like Pilgrimage, Ramos, Quezon, Governors, Lopez, Mimpis and Marcos where they enjoyed different island experience and eco-sport activities.
Three more international cruise ships are expected to visit the Hundred Islands this year to boost tourism in the city after a three-year lull due to the pandemic. (Eva Visperas)
