Gov. Guico extends ban vs swine/pork, ducks anew
GOV. Ramon Guico III issued on March 2 two Executive Orders (EO) extending anew the temporary total ban on the entry of live swine/pigs, pork, and pork by-products and another involving ducks, quails, spent hens (culled), hatching eggs, pigeons, gamefowls, ready to lay pullet that come from other provinces to Pangasinan.
EO No. 0015, series of 2023 is a follow-up to an earlier order whose date of effectivity was from Feb. 2 to March 2, 2023.
It said that “…to date, Pangasinan has no reported cases of African Swine Fever (ASF), however, with the continuing discovery of positive cases of ASF in the Province of Bulacan and other nearby provinces, there is a need to extend the temporary total ban on the entry of Live Swine/Pigs, Pork and Pork By-Products, to prevent the entry of virus in the province and to protect the general welfare of its people”.
Aside from Bulacan, pork products that come from the provinces of Tarlac, Pampanga, Nueva Ecija and other red zone are also banned in Pangasinan.
Meanwhile, the second is EO No. 0016, series of 2023 that stated temporary total ban of ducks and others and restrictions on the movement of other poultry birds and by-products from the provinces of Bulacan, Pampanga, Nueva Ecija, Tarlac, Laguna, Sultan Kudarat, Benguet, North Cotabato, South Cotabato, Maguindanao, Isabela, Quezon, Kalinga, Aurora, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, Capiz and Batangas into Pangasinan.
An earlier EO on this matter was also issued effective Feb. 2 to March 2.
It said that “to date, Pangasinan has no reported cases of avian influenza, however, with the continuing discovery of positive cases of Avian Influenza in the Province of Bulacan and other nearby provinces, there is a need to extend the temporary total ban on the entry of all ducks, quails, spent hens (culled), hatching eggs, pigeons, gamefowls, ready to lay pullet (RTL), to contain the spread of Avian Influenza and for the welfare of the residents of Pangasinan”.
