DTI warns online sellers: ‘PM Sent’ on price queries a violation
THE Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) sternly warns online sellers that withholding prices to the public in their announcements and ads, and instead sends private messages (PM) interested customers.
DTI Provincial Director Natalia Dalaten urged customers to report to her office any violation of Article 81 of the Consumer Act, or Republic Act 7394 that stipulates that retailers or sellers are required to display a price tag to indicate the price of each consumer good and/or services.
Further, products shall not be sold at a price higher than stated on said tag.
She said sending the price through private message is a direct violation, as this denies the price from being known to all – making price manipulation easier and possible.
Meanwhile, Dalaten said DTI-Pangasinan office is open for complaints and other matters involving trade and industry.
Dalaten further urged the public to always ask for receipt, since it will help them validate their complaints. (Ahikam Pasion)
