Decorp: Expect more than P1 per kwh decrease in electric bills
CUSTOMERS of the Dagupan City Electric Corporation (Decorp) will have something to celebrate next month – February billing will be lower.
Atty. Randy Castilan, Decorp spokesperson, said the lower charges will be billed after a 70-centavo decrease in their January billing.
Castilan said the decrease is made possible by the entry of Energy Development Corporation (EDC), the new power supplier for Decorp for the next 10 years.
The EDC takes pride in being the largest 100-percent renewable energy company in the Philippines, mainly from geothermal power source, making their charge lower than other power plants.
As a renewable energy source, the power EDC produces is not subjected to value added tax.
The EDC-Decorp contract enables a cheaper electricity supply at P4.58 pesos per kilowatt hour (kwh) only.
Castilan said the initial forecasted decrease is estimated at P1.32 per kwh.
Complementing the advantage provided by EDC, the One Manaoag Solar Power Plant that produces renewable energy through its solar panels installed in Barangay Erfe, Sta. Barbara town, also signed an exclusive deal with Decorp.
Decrop has effectively four sources of power: the electricity market, EDC, one coal-fired power plant, and the One Manaoag Solar Power Plant.
Castilan said since Decorp’s supply, distribution, and metering charges remain the same since 2015, changes in generation charges will impact on the billing, depending on the meter consumption. (Ahikam Pasion)
