Price of dressed chicken slightly up in Dagupan
THE price of dressed chicken in the markets of Dagupan and Pangasinan last week has increased from P10 to P20 per kilo.
Dressed chicken is now P10 per kilo higher in the Malimgas Market in Dagupan and P20 per kilo higher in other markets in the province.
Vendors at the Malimgas market speculated that the unexpected increase was triggered by the temporary total ban on chicken and poultry by-products in the province on account of the still raging bird flu disease in Central Luzon.
However, the Office of the Provincial Veterinarian denied there is short supply of chicken and poultry-by products in Pangasinan, saying there is enough of these today. (Rona Racca)

Onion price still high despite ongoing harvest
ONLY a few vendors are selling onion at the Malasiqui public market because the price of the commodity is still high despite the ongoing onion harvest season in Pangasinan.
A survey conducted by IMF Dagupan at the Malasiqui Public Market showed that vendors are reluctant to receive onions from their usual suppliers for fear that they may lose their capital if people still resist buying onion because of its high price.
While the price of onion dropped from P600 to P400, vendors say the price is still deemed high, and households will continue to opt for the cheaper lasona.
The few vendors selling white onion sell the commodity at P50 per bundle, each bundle consisting five small pieces. (Jhon Caranto)

500 AUTOPro driver left out of fuel subsidy
SOME 500 (or 30 percent) of the members of the Alliance of United Transport Organizations Provincewide (AUTOPro) complained they have not yet received the third tranche of fuel subsidy from the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) regional office.
Bernard Tuliao, AUTOPro president, said those who have not yet received the latest round of fuel subsidy were drivers plying different routes in Pangasinan.
However, LTFRB assured AUTOPro that the 500 other drivers will receive their fuel subsidy as soon as the from LTFRB central office clears the request.
The delay, according to LTFRB, was caused by the cleansing of the roster of beneficiaries of the fuel subsidy.
These 500 drivers earlier said that in the absence of the third fuel subsidy, they may opt to seek an increase of minimum provisional fare from LTFRB. (Jhon Caranto)
