ARBOS’ THREE YEARS PRODUCTION

SEVEN agrarian reform beneficiary organizations (ARBOs) in the province were able to sell a total of P263 million worth of agricultural produce since 2020, thanks to the Enhanced Partnership Against Hunger and Poverty (EPAHP), an inter-agency government program.

Zarena Ann Amado, Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) – Pangasinan provincial Information Officer, said the program, formerly known as the Partnership Against Hunger and Poverty, benefitted farmers specially during the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown.

While the program was established since 2019, it was only during the pandemic when it fully served its purpose.

When the pandemic struck, the EPAHP, DAR, and the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) entered into an agreement, paving the way for ARBOs to sell their produce despite the restrictions through marketing contracts.

One of the most successful ARBOs in Pangasinan is the Bantog Samahang Nayon Multipurpose Cooperative (BSNMPC), that also operates the now-famous Dairy Box milk and yogurt store located in Barangay Bantog, Asingan town.

The BSNMPC sold P255 million worth of produce, and was recognized by the DAR Central Office as one of the top-performing ARBOs under the hunger mitigation project.

Other successful ARBOs are the Gualsic Agriculture Cooperative in Alcala; Rang-Ay Upland Integrated Farmers Association Inc. of Bani; Aliguas Dumaralos na Buenlag Inc in Calasiao partnering with the BJMP-Dagupan City; Carosalesan Irrigators Consumer Cooperative of Umingan, along with the Evangelista Agrarian Reform Cooperative in partnership with BJMP Balungao; and Saint Pascal Baylon Multipurpose Cooperative in San Quintin in partnership with the Department of Agriculture.
