FDA-North Luzon to assist Dagupan fish processors
THE Food and Drug Administration-North Luzon is set to assist and provide training programs for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Dagupan City.
In a meeting with Mayor Belen Fernandez, FDA-North Luzon Cluster Director Gomel Gabuna identified bangus processing as one of the livelihood activities where the agency can assist, including securing licenses for export.
It was easy for Mayor Fernandez to express full support for the FDA-North Luzon Cluster’s programs since it was she who introduced bangus processing as a small-scale business for households, introduced Dagupan bangus branding and set up a product center where products of bangus processors were sold.
Fernandez initially vowed to revive the bangus deboning area at the Malimgas Market that had been operating for many years until the past city administration stopped it and closed the product center of the city on Galvan Street. (Jhon Caranto)

New route for jeepneys eases Dagupan traffic
THE diversion of traffic of east-bound public utility vehicles from outside Dagupan effected by the Public Order and Safety Office (POSO) helped minimize gridlock in Dagupan’s downtown.
The diversion was made due to the continuing road construction along Rizal Street, particularly at its southern end.
Under the new scheme, jeepneys from Mangaldan, San Fabian, Manaoag and Mapandan are no longer allowed to pass the downtown area and are directed to turn left on Herrero-Perez St. and back to their points of origin.
As soon as construction and repair of some roads are over, the Dagupan POSO may restore the old routes for jeepneys. (Rona Racca)
