Two-three year strategy plan in municipal organic agri drafted
PANGASINAN ORGANIC WORSHOP
A two-day Municipal Organic Agriculture roadmap workshop conducted in Pangasinan by the Department of Agriculture – Regional Field Office I prepared a two to three year strategic plan in municipal organic agriculture held at Purok Marcela Resort in Lingayen.
Participants included Certified Organic Practitioners of the Participatory Guarantee System (PGS) Pangasinan Philippines Inc., along with Organic Agriculture Focal Persons from each of the 47 LGUs, OPAg Pangasinan, Pangasinan Municipal and City Agriculturists.
The plan was drafted after discussions on the rationale of the program and the roadmap template where the participants were clustered based on the crops that they produce.
The second day of the workshop, the participants discussed the business plans that they prepared for each organic commodity like palay, corn, mongo, peanuts, pinakbet vegetables, herbs, onion and garlic.
Completion of roadmap for Organic Agriculture in Region I will pave the way for the putting up of an attainable strategic plan that will be strictly followed by organic farmers in order to increase their production as well as their incomes and most importantly, ensure food security for the next years to come (104.7IMF Dagupan/Joana de Vera)
