THE second tranche of the daily minimum wage increase for workers in Region 1 took effect last December 1, barely six months after the first tranche was effected June 6, 2022, according to the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) in Region 1.

The agency said the second tranche is part of Wage Order No. RB1-21 approved by the Regional Tripartite Wage and Productivity Board (RTWPB) to be implemented in two tranches, first on June 6, 2022 and the second on December 1, 2022.

The daily minimum wage increase, however, benefited only workers in the private non-agriculture and agriculture sectors.

Under the wage order, non-agricultural establishments with 1 to 9 employees were granted  P321 increase per day on June 6, was increased to P342 per day on December 1;   establishments with 10 to 29 employees, P340 per day on June 6, was increased to P370 per day on December 1; and establishments with 30 or more employees, P370 per day on June 6; and P400 per day on December 1.

For agriculture establishments, the daily minimum wage for non-plantation workers was set at P312 per day on June 6, which was increased to P342 per day on December 1.

For plantation workers, their minimum wage was set at P325 per day on June 6, which was increased to P372 per day on December 1. (Leonardo Micua)
