Bus terminals seeing bigger volume of travelers
SINCE the Covid pandemic restrictions were relaxed, bus terminals in Dagupan City were like beehives since last Thursday where vacationing families and students were seen boarding buses that were being dispatched every hour to destinations in Metro Manila and to towns and cities in Pangasinan and nearby provinces.
Jomar Pacura, Victory Liner terminal master, said while walk-in passengers are still the norm, many have learned to make reservations for advanced bookings making boarding of buses more orderly.
Pacura said families and groups of friends expecting to travel during the long holiday are encouraged to book their travel arrangements early till after the New Year to avoid the rush and beat the long queues of walk-in passengers.
He said the number of passengers that made reservations in advance have more than doubled since November.
Bus terminals were expected to be jampacked until December 24, and again on December 29 to December 31 for the New Year’s revelry.
Pangasinan to Metro Manila trips of bus companies have scheduled departures every hour while the Dagupan City to Baguio route has started a 30-minute interval schedule.
Pacura assured that their company drivers are well-rested, and that their buses well-maintained.
“Hindi po back-to-back ang biyahe ng mga drivers po natin, lalo kung mahaba po ang biyahe nila. Sinisiguro po natin na makakapagpahinga sila nang maayos, may maintenance din ng bus habang nakapahinga sila”, Pacura said. (Ahikam Pasion)
