Rice prices are lower finally

By October 29, 2022Business

THE selling price of rice in Dagupan recently saw a markdown: a 25-kilogram sack of regular-milled rice is down to P900 while well-milled and premium-milled rice is P950.

As of writing, commercial rice from the provinces of Isabela and Nueva Ecija, well-milled and newly-harvested, is colored white, signifying its freshness is being sold at P36 per kilogram.

The National Food Authority (NFA) Region I confirmed that the price of commercial rice has gone down drastically compared to previous months due to the harvest season, that started last week of September.

As a result, the NFA Region I is now able to procure 20,000 cavans of rice from local farmers.

The local procurement is also expected to increase in the following months, as the final week of October.  The NFA warehouses store 162,000 bags of buffer stocks.  (Ahikam Pasion)
