Fishing ban at San Roque reservoir stays—BFAR

By October 23, 2022Business

THE Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) has reiterated its ban against fishing at the reservoir of the San Roque Dam in San Manuel town.

Based on the findings of the agency, the tilapia raised at the reservoir were found to have high arsenic content that could be dangerous to any one consuming the fish.

Tom Valdez, Vice President on Corporate Responsibility of San Manuel Power Corporation, said his office is conducting regular sample tests on the fish growing at the reservoir.

The fishing ban at the San Roque reservoir started on October 11, 2019 and has not yet been lifted.

Municipal Agriculture Office is continuously monitoring the selling of tilapia and other fish in the town’s public market to protect the health of the people. (Jhon Caranto)
