AS the holiday season draws nearer, the Department of Trade and Industry has directed the strict inspection and calibration of weighing scales in public markets.

In an interview, DTI Region I Director Grace Baluyan said DTI and the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) is conducting an intensive weighing scale calibration in all public markets in the region.

She added that DTI is set to conduct trainings to enable entrepreneurs and vendors to properly and fairly adjust their own weighing scales.

Baluyan stressed the importance of regular calibration because defective operations can affect the entrepreneur’s sales if left unchecked.

Maaaring lumuwang ang mga springs na ginagamit sa timbangan, kaya prone sa kulang o sobra sa timbang”, she said.

Baluyan urged customers to ensure that weighing scales of stores they purchase products from are calibrated by checking out sticker from the local government certifying its calibration. (Ahikam Pasion)
