THIRTY-two former Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs) from Mangaldan town received financial assistance for their livelihood projects from the Dagupan City Parole and Probation Office (DCPPO).

This donation was made public by Pastor Abelardo Nuarin of Barangay Bari, a volunteer probation assistant, who said the financial assistance will be used by former PDLs as their capital to plant water melons during the dry season.

He said the former PDLs need to earn a living because of their difficulty to find work or employment in the private sector because of their status, and some of them, were in fact refused by their kin to live with them.

This is the reason why former PDLs have difficulty starting a new life after their release from the penitentiary, Nuarin said and hoped that with the financial help from the parole and probation office, the former PDLs can help them become responsible citizens just like anybody else.
