Second solar farm in Pangasinan to rise in Bugallon
A second solar power farm is set to rise in Barangay Salomague, Bugallon, less than eight months after the groundbreaking of the first plant in February this year.
The 25-megawatt solar power farm will be built by the Petro Green Energy Corporation.
This was gleaned in a letter dated September 8, 2022 of Maria Victoria Olivar, assistant Vice President of Petro Green Energy Corporation addressed to Governor Ramon Guico III, thru Vice Governor Mark Lambino and Second District Board Member Haidee Soriano Pacheco.
According to First District Board Member Napoleon Fontelera Jr.. majority floor leader, the letter asked the Sangguniang Panlalawigan for a favorable endorsement interposing no objection to the proposed 25-megawatt Bugallon solar power project of Petro Green Energy Corporation, and specifically for the reclassification of land in Barangay Salomague Sur, Bugallon from agricultural to industrial.
Olivar’s letter was referred by Third District Board Member Sheila Baniqued, the presiding protempore, to the SP committees on environment, natural resources and energy, agriculture, agrarian reform, housing and land utilization for study and proper action.
The first solar power farm in Pangasinan to break ground in February this year is a P4,5 Billion Solar Power Plant located in Barangay Cayanga, Bugallon owned by the Aboitiz Power Unit and Aboitiz Renewables Inc. that targeted to start construction this year.
Once completed, it is expected to generate 147 million kilowatt hours per year. (Leonardo Micua)
