THE coastal waters of Alaminos City, Bani, Bolinao, Anda and Sual are declared red tide-free by the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) regional office.

This was gleaned from a letter of BFAR Region 1 Director Rosario Segundina Gaerlan dated July 25, 2022 to Mayor Belen Fernandez thru John Patrick Dizon, OIC City Agriculture Officer of Dagupan.

It means that shrimps, crabs and other shellfishes (oyster and mussels) from these areas are again safe for human consumption based on the result of Paralytic Shellfish Poisoning (PSF) analysis conducted.

BFAR asked the city government to inform the public as the Dagupan Fish Market is the usual destination of shellfishes originating from the coastal waters of Alaminos, Bani, Bolinao, Anda and Sual, all of Western Pangasinan.

Gaerlan said the auxiliary invoice from LGU or Local Transport Permit issued by BFAR indicating the origin of fishery products being marketed is still monitored from traders of shellfishes and other aquatic products. (Leonardo Micua)
