Sentinel pigs in Mangaldan checked for ASF

By August 7, 2022Business

BLOOD samples of sentinel pigs provided by the Department of Agriculture to hog raisers in Mangaldan town were taken to ensure that the town is African Swine Fever (ASF)-Free.

This is a part of the process of the repopulation program to enable the piggery industry in the province return the pre-ASF status.

The blood sampling was taken after a forty-day observation on sentinel pigs to confirm if the pigs test negative for ASF.

It will be recalled that 45 hog raisers in Mangaldan town were given sentinel pigs by the DA. Each hog raiser received three pigs weighing 15 kilos each.

Negative blood sample results will allow pig raisers to raise more hogs within a one-kilometer radius. (Ahikam Pasion)
