San Carlos LGU eyes rabbit-raising industry
ALTERNATIVE TO HOG, POULTRY-RAISING
THE San Carlos City is government is keen on promoting and strengthening the local rabbit industry in the city.
Mayor Julier ‘Ayoy’ Resuello, in his Facebook post on Tuesday, June 14, said the city hall has begun coordinating with the Rabbit Association of San Carlos City (RASCC), to create programs for local residents planning to join the industry.
The RASCC is a local group based in the city that promotes rabbit breeding for pets and consumption.
After the local hog industry was severely hit by the African Swine Fever (ASF) and is still recovering in the wake of the infestation, more households are turning to the rabbit production industry.
Resuello said the program, much like pork and poultry-related programs launched by the local government, will also include distribution of starter rabbits to interested breeders and seminars on methods of breeding and efficient growing of rabbits. (Ahikam Pasion)
