New Region 1 wage order effective June 6

WORKERS in Region 1 hailed the new wage order approved by the Regional Tripartite Wage and Productivity Board (RTWPB) on May 21 starting this week, June 6.

Department of Labor and Employment Regional  Director Evelyn Ramos said the new wage order was deliberated upon intently by the RTWPB which he chairs by considering all factors about the economy.

Regional Wage Order No. RB1-21 grants wage increases for workers from P60 to P90 to be given by their employers in two to three tranches, namely:

  1. P30 upon the effectivity of the Wage Order and another P30 on December 1, 2022 for non-agriculture establishments employing 30 or more employees;
  2. P30 upon effectivity of the Wage Order, P30 on December 1, 2022 and P30 on March 1, 2023 for non-agriculture establishments employing 10 to 29 employees;
  3.  P30 upon effectivity of the Wage Order, P30 on December 1, 2022 and P30 on March 1, 2023 for non-agriculture establishments employing 1-9 employees; and
  1. P30 upon the effectivity of the Wage Order and another P47 on December 1, 2022 for plantation agriculture establishments.

Director Ramos said after full implementation of the trances, the minimum wage   in the region will range from P372 to P400 from P282 to P340 under the previous Wage Order. (Leonardo Micua)
