Infanta’s ‘patotoy’, PH’s 3rd best DOLE project

SWEET ‘patotoy’ project was recently cited as the country’s third best project in 2022 Department of Labor and Employment’s (DOLE) Kabuhayan Awards in the individual category.

Perfecto Caballero Jr.’s livelihood project, ‘Patotoy‘ is Infanta town’s native delicacy known for its sweetness. It is made with sticky rice rolled in a sweet filling like yema or ube wrapped in banana leaves. In 2017, Caballero began selling patotoy in his neighborhood for years and has since become popular in their town.

Caballero’s family received P20,000-worth of tools, equipment, and materials from DOLE Regional Office 1 through the Integrated Livelihood Program in January 2020.

According to Caballero, they are already selling their product in Pangasinan and Zambales and have been earning from P30,000 to P90,000 per month. They have expanded their marketing operations to Norway, London, and the USA.

“Mang Perfecto really has an interesting story, and we are happy that his success was recognized in this year’s Kabuhayan Awards,” said DOLE Regional Director Atty. Evelyn Ramos, citing in a Facebook post. (Vjnhyl Pondivida)
