DOST’s S&T exhibit features innovative products

THE Department of Science and Technology-Technology Application and Promotion Institute (DOST-TAPI), in partnership with SM Supermalls and the DOST in Ilocos, held the National Science and Technology Promotion and Exhibit (NSTPE) at the SM City Rosales in Rosales town on April 23-27, 2022.

Engr. Arnold Santos, DOST-Pangasinan provincial director, said the exhibit featured the latest technologies, services, and innovative products from the DOST-supported micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) all over the region.

The products showcased in the exhibit were from Bakers PH (Ilocos Norte), Onacoli Food Products, Royal Maharlika Wellness and Livelihood Training Center (Ilocos Sur); Tessie Mushroom House Food Products and Jobi’s Mushroom Products (La Union); and Elisha Bay Dagupan Bangus and Seafoods, 1Food Corporation, Nutridense Food Manufacturing Corporation, Dinalupig and Gabrielle Food Products Trading, and Marsse Tropical Timber Plantation, Inc. (Pangasinan).

DOST-developed technologies, i.e.,  Forest Research and Development Institute’s anti-microbial bamboo hand soap and hand mist, Science and Technology Academic and Research-Based Openly Operated KioskS (STARBOOKS), hybrid electric road train, Charging in Minutes (CharM), mobile COVID-19 specimen collection booth, honey authentication and fingerprinting technology, Smart Surface, and Philippine tropical fabrics,  Science for the People Books series: Science for Social Change, and Science for Success and Science for Scale and Onward: A compilation of DOST-developed technologies were also featured.

Currently, the DOST-TAPI offers programs and services that are unique to the institute, such as Intellectual Property (IP) rights protection, valuation, marketing and promotion, and venture financing, among others.

Meanwhile, the DOST in Ilocos will continue to empower MSMEs through the Small Enterprise Technology Upgrading Program (SETUP) which is a strategy to address their technical problems and improve productivity and efficiency thru technology acquisition, human resource training, functional packages and labels designing, product testing, and many others.
