5.7K corn farmers get fuel subsidy

AFTER the May 9  election, the Department of Agriculture (DA) will distribute a P3,000 worth of fuel discount through an ID card to 5,717 corn farmers in Pangasinan.

They are among the 12,244 corn farmers in Region 1 who are set to receive P38,568,000 worth of fuel subsidy. Other beneficiaries are from Ilocos Sur, 2,841; Ilocos Norte, 2,164;  and La Union, 1,522.

The beneficiaries will claim their discounts across identified fuel stations.

According to Florante Gallebo, focal person, the fuel discount is intended to be consumed for the machinery used in corn production from land preparation to post-harvest activities.

Recipients were selected from the Registry System for the Basic Sectors in Agriculture (RSBSA) and based on the master lists endorsed by the municipal agriculture offices.

Fuel subsidies will also be given among the fisher folks in the region under the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources. (PIA Region 1)
