Bayambang’s post-harvest facility opens
ONE-STOP-SHOP FOR FARMERS
THE biggest post-harvest facility complex in Northern Luzon built by the Quiambao family in Barangay Amancosiling in Bayambang for local farmers had its grand opening on March 30.
Agricultural Infrastructure and Leasing Corporation (AILC) , the latest project of the Quiambao family for Bayambang farmers, is situated in a more than three-hectare area where a rice mill, silo, cold storage and solar dryer have been erected.
Vice Mayor Raul Sabangan said during the event that Mayor Cezar Quiambao and his wife Niña Jose-Quiambao have been thinking about the welfare of farmers in Bayambang and the facility was built precisely for their sake.
Mrs. Quiambao, who conceptualized the project, said, the town’s local farmers no longer need to sell their products to traders and middlemen as the facility will look after their welfare. “The farmers are our priority,” she said.
She said AILC will focus on buying agricultural products at competitive prices to ensure that farmers will profit.
At the same time, farmers will also have access to funds as capital to improve their productivity at low interest rates.
The chief operating officer of AILC is Philip Jose, father of Mrs. Quiambao, who shares the couple’s advocacy for the farmers’ plight.
Meanwhile, Mayor Quiambao lauded officer-in-charge Municipal Agriculturist Zyra Orpiano and all the participating farmers for the successful holding of Farmers’ Festival 2022. (Eva Visperas)
