328 disadvantaged/displaced workers served by TUPAD
THE identified 328 displaced/disadvantaged workers from Lingayen and Binmaley, earned their keep for 10 days through the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged /Displaced Workers (TUPAD) Program.
The payout distribution was held at the Sison Auditorium in Lingayen on April 7.
TUPAD is one of the flagship programs of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) that provides emergency employment for displaced workers, underemployed and seasonal workers, for a minimum period of 10 days.
In partnership with the provincial government, the displaced/disadvantaged workers received P3,400 each after rendering community work from February 21 until March 2, 2022.
Pangasinan Provincial Employment Services Office (PESO) Manager Alex Ferrer said DOLE Secretary Silvestre Bello III allocated 500 TUPAD initial slots and additional 500 more for the governor’s office. Aside from payout, beneficiaries were enrolled in a micro-insurance through Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) and given souvenir hats and t-shirts.
Last March 29, 96 workers from Sual, Bugallon, Labrador, and Aguilar received their earnings. (PIO/LIAP)
