Decorp assures lower charges this month, but…

DESPITE the skyrocketing price of oil, the Dagupan Electric Corporation (Decorp) assured its customers that there will be no increase in their billings this month.

This was conveyed by Atty. Randy Castilan, spokesperson, after power plants supplying energy to DECORP have completed their preventive maintenance, which will result in P0.50 decrease in generation charge this month.

“We are still finishing the final computation, but we can be sure that the generation charge will be lower now, compared to the previous month,” Castilan said.

However, he said the billing for the month of April may be a different story since several factors, such as high fuel costs and the onset of the dry season come into play.

He said the billing will likely increase because of the demand during summer amid the Russia-Ukraine conflict in Europe.

Decorp, however, remains optimistic that the increase will not be as bad because there are other power suppliers using renewable energy sources.

Meanwhile, to counteract the pending increase, Castilan urged the public to save electricity. (Ahikam Pasion)
